Pizza Wood Fired Oven - Our Monster Backyard Build that Really Cooks

Let me tell you, building a pizza wood fired oven was quite the adventure! It all started in September 2020 when my dad, who is a spry 78-year-old, began the block work. Next came the brick work, and my dad passed the torch (trowel) to me. Let's just say that my bricklaying skills are a work in progress. Just when I thought we were done, my wife dropped the bombshell - she wanted a 700 square foot patio around the pizza wood fired oven. Talk about adding insult to injury! Despite the unexpected extra work, we managed to get it done. And boy, was it worth it! We celebrated by cooking 25 pizzas for a party right after completing the oven. Who needs practice when you can dive right in? And that wasn't even the most impressive feat! On the day of our graduation party, we whipped up an astonishing 80 pizzas in just five hours. Good thing we had that wood fired oven to keep up with the demand!

"I have to say, since completing the project in time for our sons graduation in June my wife loves it and we have done about 250 pizzas. We have done morning after eggs, brownies, some beef ribs and most recently cookies. With all of that the absolute best thing was 2 delicious 12lb turkeys for Thanksgiving. They turned out being the best I have ever had. They were moist and had the best smoke flavor and only took about 2 hours and 20 minutes to cook. Thank you for the inspiration!"
